Som en del af et langsigtet klimatilpasningsprogram omkring Harrestrup Å har idverde gennemført Haraldsminde-projektet for at reducere risikoen for oversvømmelser og samtidig skabe et naturligt og tilgængeligt grønt landskab.
The Challenge
Haraldsminde is one of several projects being delivered as part of a joint 20-year capacity plan involving ten municipalities. The objective is to increase the capacity of Harrestrup Å to safely manage heavy rainfall, reducing the risk of flooding for nearby homes, roads and surrounding infrastructure.
The project required large-scale earthworks, the reconfiguration of the existing stormwater network and the integration of technical flood management solutions into a landscape that remains functional, attractive and accessible for local communities.
Our Solution
Working in partnership with Novafos, idverde excavated more than 33,000 m³ of soil to create a large grass-covered stormwater retention basin designed to blend naturally into the surrounding landscape. Walking paths and timber bridges were incorporated throughout the site, creating a recreational space for walking, running and cycling alongside its flood protection function.
The basin is designed to retain 21,000 m³ of rainwater during standard storm events. When combined with the adjacent flood storage area, the site can hold almost 60,000 m³ of water, significantly increasing resilience during periods of intense rainfall.
The project also included major drainage infrastructure works, including the diversion of the existing stormwater system and the construction of new inlet and outlet structures connecting the basin to Harrestrup Å.
To minimise environmental impact, the excavated soil was reused on site to build noise barriers, improve an existing sledding hill and shape the landscape so that floodwater naturally flows towards the retention basin rather than collecting in low-lying areas.
Services Provided
This project combined climate adaptation, stormwater management and landscape construction to create a multifunctional green space that protects surrounding communities from flooding. The works included large-scale earthworks, the construction of a stormwater retention basin, upgrades to the stormwater drainage infrastructure, the creation of recreational green spaces, and the sustainable reuse of excavated soil within the landscape.
